SEVENMARKS Gallery invites you to a special artist talk between Mikey Freedom and Nasim Koerting, presented as part of the current exhibition, TEMPEST.

This conversation offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from Mikey Freedom as he reflects on the ideas and processes behind TEMPEST. The exhibition marks a period of growth and introspection in his practice, featuring works that explore material, experience, and transformation; that move between tension and clarity.

In dialogue with Nasim Koerting, the discussion will expand into a broader exploration of artistic development, touching on process, influence, and the roles of honesty and risk in creative work. We look forward to an engaging and informal exchange that offers deeper insight into both the exhibition and the lived experience of being an artist.

  • Mikey Freedom is a Sydney-born multidisciplinary artist and educator known for rhythmic, abstract compositions featuring bold colour, contorted figures, and cut-outs. Influenced by 1980s Sydney graffiti, his work blends urban mark-making with gesture, nostalgia, and what he describes as “rhythmic classicism.”

  • Nasim Köerting is an award-winning interior architect and designer, currently Design Director at Merivale in Sydney. She leads the creative vision across one of Australia’s leading hospitality groups, overseeing the design and styling of more than 90 venues.
