SEVENMARKS Gallery is pleased to present SHADOWINGS, an exhibition by Gabrielle Adamik and Cinnamon Lee.

Working with glass, metal, light and shade, Adamik and Lee unsettle the familiar hierarchy between object and shadow. While the object is presumed to come first and its shadow to follow, here that relationship is inverted: the shadow begins to speak for itself.

Adamik’s clear glass works consider bearing witness through recurring eyes, where shadow becomes a less stable double that exceeds the authority of the form that produces it. Lee’s perforated metal works trap and release points of light, creating images that hover between apparition and artefact.

Across both practices, shadow is not treated as absence or a void waiting to be filled by light, but as an active presence, a different order of reality that asks us to reconsider what we see, and what we have learned to overlook.
