WHERE THOUGHT SETTLES

Chick Butcher

Opening 12th July - 5 - 7pm

Where Thought Settles marks Butcher’s second major presentation within the gallery he co-founded and it lands with presence.

Working with timber, glass and corten steel, Butcher builds a sculptural language of weight and restraint. The materials carry a visceral presence—darkened wood holds the scent of fire and time, while glass surfaces reflect with veiled precision. Each work is pared back, exacting and quiet, inviting close attention rather than spectacle.

In Where Thought Settles, Butcher gives form to what lingers —where mass meets memory and absence becomes its own kind of monument. These objects don’t speak loudly, they resonate. Still, grounded and contemplative, they hold space as much as they occupy it.

At a time when contemporary art often mirrors the relentless pace of the world, Where Thought Settles compels us to slow and pause. It is not simply an exhibition—it is an invitation to listen to what is felt but not said, to engage with the weight of what remains.

In resisting noise, these works speak with clarity. In their stillness they become monuments to presence, memory and the quiet truths that define our time.
